• Friday Feature: First Birthday Zoo Invitation

by Cari Hall

By now, you know we specialize in wedding invitations, but did you know we also do invitations for many “Kid” events, such as Birthdays, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Christenings, Sweet Sixteens, and more? This week we are featuring one of my favorite birthday invitations, because it’s sweet and simple!

rounded-corners

What I love:

This card was designed by the mother of Birthday Girl, Aya. I love how she combined just a splash of color with her b/w photo, simple graphic elements, and great design to create this one-of-a-kind card.

Because Aya’s photo was to be the main graphic, we used a special glossy coated cardstock for the main invitation to help the adorable picture really pop.  Alternatively, you could use C1 Classic White if printing at home.

The card was printed on both sides in color (digital), and featured shades of pink, peach and brown, with the peach color matching the exterior Portable Pocket Enclosure in C1 Matte Persimmon. We rounded the corners on the invitation, an interesting design feature contrasted to the square corners of the enclosure.

On the back side, the invitation contained a map and all the information birthday guests would need. Simple zoo animal graphics set the stage for the fabulous party.

portable-pocket

Around the exterior of the Portable Pocket, we printed a custom bandwrap featuring a pattern of the zoo animal graphics, again created by Mom. The bandwrap was printed on V2 Translucent Vellum. (tip: Print on a full 8.5 x 11 sheet, then cut bandwraps after printing).  For the envelope, you could use an E1 Persimmon envelope, OR, an E1 Tobacco or Cocoa envelope with Persimmon envelope icing.

We love designing your custom invitations, but we also love working with your designs to help you create just the invitation you imagine! This card is a fun example of how our custom printing services can help you make your invitation design a reality!
