- Part 2: Choosing Your Invitation Colors – FALL 2011
You’re planning an elegant fall wedding or other autumn celebration, and you’re pondering the perfect color… Here are some tips from Pantone – the industry leader in color – for the hottest colors of the season, based on picks from Top Designers at NYC’s Fashion Week this past February. (See Spring 2011 color picks here, in last weeks article.)
“Designers take a painterly approach to fall 2011 by artfully combining bright colors with staple neutrals, reminiscent of how an artist would construct a stunning work of art,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Much like a painter’s masterpiece, there is a certain romance to this season’s palette.” www.pantone.com
We’ve cross-referenced these designers’ color picks with some of our favorite Envelopments cardstock colors to help you take advantage of this fall’s trends. You can see the full article on the Pantone Website, with designer info, inspiration, and plenty of ideas for color combinations here.
You set the mood of your entire event with the colors, textures, and overall design of your invitations. By combining soft mattes and rich textures with sleek metallics, bold solids and patterns with earthy neutrals in your own way, you’ll add your own personality to your invitations.
We offer over 200 different colors, you’re sure to find just what you’re looking for. Click here to see our colors online or here to order a swatchbook to see colors in person.
And, of course, you can combine these colors with with other colors from our selections to create your own custom palette. Envelopments has also developed “Color Concepts” — a feature showing color combinations in different color families. The color combinations are endless, but here are few ideas to get you started:

Tip: Many of our brides create invitations that coordinate with their wedding colors, but we also have many couples who simply select colors that appeal to them, then use different color choices at the celebration. You can order blank stock in any of the colors to do day-of stationery such as programs, menus and place cards, so you can match the wedding invitation color scheme or come up with something new. It’s up to you… Happy Planning!
