After all the beautiful wedding features we’ve posted so far, I thought it would be fun to show off something a little different.  This hockey-themed invite is one of my favorite Bar Mitzvah invitations we’ve done.  One thing that makes this invitation so unique and personal is that the action shots in the invitation are actual photos of Matty (the guest of honor) taken by his mom during a game – not stock photography of some generic athlete.

Three Things I Love:

1. Color

The colors selected for this invitation represented Matty’s favorite pro Hockey team. The bright action photos with white backgrounds played strongly against the red border and bright blue pocketfold. I also love the yellow rink line running around the edge of the photo and behind the red posts of the net.  This color scheme is definitely all “BOY.”

2. Typography

Inside, the “hockey lingo” in the invitation wording reminds recipients of this invitation that they will not want to miss out on one minute of the action!

To keep the invitation consistent, we matched the colors of the wording to the colors used in the red and blue backing layers. The bold, modern fonts used throughout gave the invitation a sporty look. We even created an outline on Matty’s name to make it look more like a team name.

One of my favorite parts of this invitation is the RSVP card.  This card was designed to look like a hockey game ticket, complete with “seat” info and a scan bar code at the bottom (which spells out “Matty’s Bar Mitzvah” if you look closely.)  Notice how the fill-in-the-blank guest info text wraps around either side of the Bauer logo on the hockey stick.

3. Assembly

As a finishing touch, a custom-printed band wrap in black and white “Referee Stripes” secures the pocketfold, and it was closed with a layered seal bearing his name and the date of the event on the hockey puck. The whole thing was sealed up in a bright red envelope. We also made stickers that matched the seal to use on the favor boxes on the day of the event, to help keep the theme consistent.

Overall Impression

As a party guest receiving this unique Bar Mitzvah invitation, I would excitedly anticipate the big event to come.  (Obviously, this was for the party, not for the religious ceremony. Many of our customers do two different invites so they can make one fun and keep the other one more formal).

Nothing frilly or girly about it… This invitation combines bold colors, great photos and exciting wording to create the perfect one-of-a-kind invitation for a sporty Bar Mitzvah Blast!
