- 5 Ways to Stay Cool at your Summer Wedding
1) Personalized Water Bottles– Help your guest stay cool while at your joyous event with these adorable personalized water bottles. If you don’t find a design that works for you wedding, we can help you design a custom label for your bottles. Ask us for pricing on custom label design.
2) Program Fans – If your ceremony might be warm – whether outside or in, let your programs do double-duty as fans. We have several designs that work well as fans, from programs on a handle to petals that fan out. Remember that we can design and print the programs for you, or you can do it yourself.
3) Take Photos in the Shade – OK, maybe one or two “sunglasses” shots are cute, but you are going to want some actual faces, so, especially for the group shots, find a setting that is not in full sun – shade but with plenty of light is best. Not only will you be cooler, but you’ll have a better photo because a) people will not be squinting, and b) you won’t have white sun spots in the photo that are hard to fix later.
If you’re using a professional photographer, they’ll set up the shots in an area where lighting is appropriate, and they have equipment that will allow greater flexibility and creativity with the lighting setup. (And may I recommend going with the photography professional here? You’ll thank me later.)
4) Guest Beach/Sun Kit – One of our very creative brides included a sunburn kit in the guest bags she prepared for her destination wedding. This adorable kit included sunscreen, after-sun lotion, aloe vera gel, hand wipes, and a cute little flip-flop notepad. On the front, she used a matching custom die-cut sticker label we created to match the rest of her wedding ensemble. What a fun idea!
5) Keep Cool to Look Your Best – Master make-up artist Nicole West of NicoleWestMakeup.com recommends that you drink lots of water to keep hydrated (see tip #1), remember to wear sunscreen underneath your bridal makeup (don’t forget to apply to your arms, neck, and your fiance too!), and keep a spritzer in your bag (like this Evian Spritzer) to cool off without ruining your makeup. The purse-size spritzers would also be thoughtful gifts for your wedding party if you’ve got a hot day in the sun.
